Purpose
This portfolio presents a comprehensive view of Lauren Ivy Sieja’s professional identity, achievements, and philosophy as a social work scholar-practitioner and educator. This portfolio is designed to showcase the depth and versatility of Lauren’s professional strengths in order to support her pursuit of a faculty position in social work academia.
Goal 1: Advance scholarship that is rigorous, relevant, and socially impactful.
Objectives: Conduct research addressing systemic and individual challenges, disseminate findings in peer-reviewed publications, and translate results into actionable interventions.
Action Steps: Complete ongoing studies on maternal burnout and related topics; submit manuscripts to journals; present findings at professional conferences; collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects.
Goal 2: Model and cultivate effective leadership in social work.
Objectives: Demonstrate authentic, transformational, and collaborative leadership in academic, clinical, and community settings; mentor students and colleagues.
Action Steps: Serve on committees and advisory boards; provide mentorship and supervision; lead initiatives that promote ethical decision-making, equity, and social justice.

Biography
Lauren Ivy Sieja, DSW, LCSW-S, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and board-approved supervisor with expertise in maternal mental health, rural social work, and macro practice. She earned her MSSW from The University of Texas at Austin (2014) and her DSW from Stephen F. Austin State University (2025). Her scholarship includes a peer-reviewed publication in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research (2024) and ongoing work on maternal burnout, empowerment among Nepali women, and professional identity development among DSW students. She has presented at state, national, and international conferences, including the NASW Texas State Conference, Society for Social Work and Research, and the Joint World Conference on Social Work, Education, and Social Development.
Sieja’s leadership experience includes serving as Board Chair for Better Together and as a founding member of Hunger Free Nac. Her professional background spans school social work, clinical practice across the lifespan, adjunct teaching, and public policy practice.
