Clinical Supervision

Lauren provides clinical supervision for LMSWs in Texas using a strengths-based, relational-cultural approach that fosters growth, confidence, and professional identity.

Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is an "intensive and interpersonal relationship that facilitates the development of professional competence.  Its principal goal is not merely training workers in skills and techniques to "do" but rather enabling them to become purposeful and effective interactions with others" (Linseisen, 2022).

Lauren's supervision style is a strengths-based approach driven by a relational-cultural model.  She recognizes the opportunity for connection and self-discovery within the context of the supervision relationship.  She hopes to offer a valuable experience in which new clinicians experience growth, develop autonomy and confidence, and find themselves in the context of who they are as Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Through clinical supervision, supervisees will be emersed in the knowledge, values, and skills needed to be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  Supervision will also be a place to discuss the practical things you need to know to be an effective and ethical social worker and clinician (that you likely didn't learn in school).

Supervision is a safe space where assumptions and biases will be challenged, feedback will be given, and we get out of our comfort zones.  To do this Lauren nurtures the relationships, listens deeply, and guides conversations without judgement.

How do I know if my job qualifies?
According to the Texas Administrative Code RULE §781.102,  "Clinical social work requires applying specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conditions and addictions, including severe mental illness and serious emotional disturbances in adults, adolescents, and children. Clinical treatment methods may include but are not limited to providing individual, marital, couple, family, and group therapy, mediation, counseling, supportive counseling, direct practice, and psychotherapy. Clinical social workers are qualified and authorized to use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes, and other diagnostic classification systems in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and other practice activities."

Within your job you must be assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.  If you are not specifically diagnosing, you must be utilizing a diagnostic skill set. Jobs that could qualify are those in clinics or hospitals, behavioral health facilities and programs, schools, hospice, home health, prisons, or non-profits,
